August 9 1945, Nagasaki, Japan. The B-29 "Bockscar" piloted by Major Charles Sweeney dropped the second atomic bomb, named "Fat Man" over Nagasaki. Around 35,000 people were killed in this attack, and like Hiroshima, more will die from radiation sickness. This is a film of the "Fat Man" mushroom cloud, taken by a crew member on the tail of either the "Bockscar" or "Great Artiste." On August 15, Emperor Hirohito will announce in his first radio announcement telling his people that Japan will surrender.
