September 8 1944, Quillayute, Washington. K-Class airship K-87 of the U.S. Navy's Airship Patrol Squadron ZP-33 at the Outlying Landing Field in Quillayute, Washington.
Lt. Suhr was the pilot of the airship at this time according to the ZP-33 Squadron Diary which states; "8 September 1944- the K-87, pilot Lt.(jg) Suhr, during a period of approximately 3 and 1/2 hours, took short flights for 61 personnel based at N.A.A.S., Quillayute, Washington." ZP-13 was also known as Blimp Squadron 33, Blimpron 33, Hedron 33 and Airship Squadron 33. This squadron operated from Tillamook, North Bend, and Astoria of Oregon, Shelton, Quillayute, and Eureka of Washington and Del Mar, Califonia between December 1942-September 1945. Their jobs were conduct scouting, search & rescue, escort and anti-submarine warfare missions. USN
